COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
COAT, FOOD HANDLER’S (STEWARD)
This Commercial Item Description is authorized for use in preference to MIL-C-15096.
1. ABSTRACT.
1.1 Scope. This commercial item description covers the requirements for food handler’s coat to be worn by stewards when performing duty in the wardroom.
1.2 Sizes. The coat shall be of one type only in the following sizes as specified (see 5.1).
Sizes: 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48, and 50
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.
2.1 Design and construction. The coat shall be single breasted with a bodkin button closure (supplied without buttons) with a neck dart in each front, semi-fitted with set-in sleeves, and shall have a fly front with five buttonholes on the left front and five eyelets on the right front. It shall have a standing collar with ends rounded and closed at the base with metal hook and eye. The stitch type for seaming the coat, the seam type, stitch gauge and stitch length shall produce adequately durable seams throughout the garment.
