A. 1/2 Body width. Measure across body, in a straight line, 1-inch below armhole
B. Body length. Measure in straight line from high point of shoulder, at neck opening to bottom
edge of sweatshirt.
C. Neck relaxed. Measure in a straight line from outside seam of neck to opposite seam.
D. Sleeve length. Measure from center back neck to bottom of sleeve.
E. Armhole. Measure in a straight line from point where sleeve is attached to body at lowest
point under arm, to the shoulder seam.
4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS
4.1 Flammability requirements. The basic material shall conform to the rules and regulations of
the Flammable Fabrics Act without the application of a flame retardant finish to the material or
to the end item.
4.2 Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials. Recycled, recovered, or
environmentally preferable materials should be used to the maximum extent possible provided
that the material meets or exceeds the operational and maintenance requirements, and promotes
economically advantageous life cycle costs.
5. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
5.1 Product conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this
commercial item description, and shall conform to the producer's own quality assurance
practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance.
5.2 Visual examination. Each sweatshirt shall be examined for the defects listed below.
5.2.1 Defects. Any hole, cut, or tear; run or dropped stitch, color not as specified; needle chew,
mend, or thin area; slubby yarn any loose knitting causing sleaziness, pulled or snagged stitches,
any part shaded; any spot or stain (outside); raw edges, open seams, thread ends not removed, or
loose tension resulting in loose seams; any material defects, distorted parts or poor workmanship;
any component part omitted; any component not as specified, lettering incorrect, not positioned
correctly, printing smeared, label missing, incorrect, or illegible; measurement of item not as
specified; bar code label omitted or not readable by scanner; human-readable interpretation
(HRI) omitted or illegible; bar code not visible on folded, packaged item; bar code label causes
damage to the item; any items not packaged in accordance with the contract or purchase order.
5.3. Acceptance criteria. Acceptance criteria shall be as specified in the contract or purchase
order.
