The bar code type shall be a medium high code density and shall be located so that it is completely visible on the item when it is folded and/or packaged as specified and so that it causes no damage to the item.
4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
5. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS.
5.1 Certification. The contractor shall certify and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this commercial item description and conform to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practice. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
5.2 Visual examination. Each glove shall be examined for the defects listed below.
Defects: In design, construction, or workmanship; any component full, tight or twisted; open seam; any hole, cut or tear; any spot or stain clearly noticeable; any unhealed scratch grub, tick mark, open vein, or clearly noticeable fat wrinkle in leather components; label missing incorrect or illegible; measurement of item not as specified; bar code omitted or not readable by scanner, human readable interpretation (HRI) omitted or illegible; bar code not visible on folded, packaged item; bar code causes damage to the item; any items not packaged in accordance with the contract or purchase order.
5.3 Dimensional examination. The finished gloves shall be measured for the minimum length (measured from the top of the second finger to the edge of the gauntlet) and the width (measured from the base thumb across the palm to the edges below the first and fourth finger) as specified in paragraph 3.4. Also, any variation on the same pair of more than 1/4 inch for either dimension shall be scored as a defect.
5.4 Market acceptance criteria. The item offered, or a generic equivalent, must have been sold to the commercial market or the Government for at least two years.
5.5 Warranty. The item offered, or a generic equivalent, must have been sold to the commercial market or to the Government for at least two years.
5.6 Acceptance criteria. Acceptance shall be as specified in the contract or purchase order.
6. PACKAGING.
Preservation, packing, and marking. The preservation, packing, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
