3.1.3 Gauntlet cuff fabric. The gauntlet cuff fabric shall be composed of two plain weave cotton or spun polyester fabrics, each weighing a minimum of 2 oz/sq yd (66.7 g/sq m), securely laminated together with not less than 12 oz/sq yd (400.0 g/sq m) of synthetic resin, synthetic rubber, or natural rubber. The finished fabric shall weigh 16 oz/sq yd (533.3 g/sq m), minimum, when tested in accordance with ASTM D 3776 and shall be unbleached.
3.1.4 Thread. The thread shall be unbleached, soft finish, machine sewing thread with a minimum breaking strength of 2 Ibf (8.9 N), when tested in accordance with ASTM D 204.
3.2 Glove design. The gloves shall be constructed as illustrated in Figure 1, 2, or 3, as applicable. The backs, palms, fingers, and thumbs of the gloves shall be made from flannel, as specified in Table 1. Styles 1 or 2 may be constructed with or without fourth finger side seams, at the manufacturer’s option.
3.2.1 Figures. Figures 1, 2, and 3 are furnished for informational purposes only. In the event of any inconsistencies between a written description and a figure, the written description shall govern.
3.2.2 Style I. Style 1 gloves shall be a Clute-cut pattern with a sewn inseam and a knit wrist cuff, as shown in figure 1. The knit wrist cuff fabric shall be folded to form a double thickness tube with the cut edges held together by the seam at the top of the glove.
3.2.3 Style II. Style 2 gloves shall be a Clute-cut pattern with a sewn inseam and a gauntlet cuff, as shown in figure 2.
3.2.4 Style III. The style 3 gloves shall be a reversible pattern with a sewn inseam and knit wrist cuff, as shown in figure 3. The knit wrist cuff fabric shall be folded to form a double thickness tube with the cut edges held together by the seam at the top of the glove.
3.2.5 Dimensions. Dimensions of the finished glove shall be in accordance with table Il. All measurements shall be made with the glove laid flat and under no tension. The length of the fingers shall be in proportion to the length of the second finger. Measurements A through D in table II correspond to the lettered dimensions in figures 1, 2, and 3. All tolerances shall be + 1/4 in (t 0.6 cm).

3.3 Forming. The gloves shall be properly shaped on heated forms and all seams worked out.
3.4 Label. Each glove shall be marked with the size, manufacturer’s name, and last digit of the year of manufacture, in letters not less than 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) high. The marking shall be on the glove, with the bottom of the letters 1/2 + 1/4 inch (1.3 + 0.6 cm) from the seam joining the wristlet or gauntlet cuff to the glove.
3.5 Pairing. Gloves shall be matched and paired, and the pairs attached together in a secure manner that will keep the pairs together through shipping and handling without damaging the gloves.
