COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION SHIRT, DISPOSABLE
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
1. SCOPE. This commercial item description covers the requirements for a disposable shirt. The shirt is intended for use as part of an ensemble used to protect torpedo handlers from exposure to Otto fuels.
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
2.1 Description. The shirt shall be below-the-hip length style, and have full-length,
set-in one or two piece sleeves, a sewn-on collar and a full front opening secured by 5 plastic
snap fasteners.
2.2 Material. The material for the collar, front, and sleeves shall be a white polyethylene coated spun bonded olefin conforming to the requirements for type II of Table I. The coated side of the material is considered to be the face side. The material for the back shall be an uncoated spun bonded olefin conforming to the requirements for type I of Table I. The stitching thread and the plastic snap fasteners shall be of any commercial type suitable for the purpose intended. The color of the thread shall be natural or white. The of the snap fasteners shall be white.
