The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description as a replacement for Military Specification MIL-S-798 (canceled).
1. CLASSIFICATION
1.1 Classification. This commercial item description covers athlete’s supporters in the following types and sizes (see 5.2)
Type I – Without pocket for protective cup
Type II – With pocket for protective cup

2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
2.1 Description. The supporters shall consist of a 100 percent unbleached cotton waistband of such circumferences that the supporters will fit the applicable waist dimensions specified in 1.1, pouch, and two leg straps. The pouch for the type I supporter shall be constructed of one or two pieces of single ply cotton elastic webbing or mesh. The type II supporter shall have a double ply knitted cotton elastic pouch forming a pocket for a protective cup and two snap fasteners at the top of the pouch pocket. All pouches shall measure 6 + 3/16 inches wide by 6 + 1/2 inches long. The waistband shall be 3 + 1/8 inches wide and legstraps 9/16 + 1/16 inch wide. The webbing for the waistband and leg straps shall be either woven elastic or knitted elastic and the minimum weight shall be 1.28 ounces per linear yard for the waistband and 0.4 ounces per linear yard for the leg straps.
